1. Open Question: Did I do something wrong with my computer upgrade?
I needed to do a computer upgrade for my home based business so I got bids for moving all the programs and data to a new larger computer system. The bids were all about $4000. It is a very complicated job. My husband ask me to talk to my friends and see if there was any way we could find someone to do the job done for less. I found the XYZ company that would do it for $700. My husband was delighted that I saved him $3300. I used the $3300 to buy a new boat he had always wanted and that made him very happy. He loves to fish. I asked my husband if he wanted to know how I saved $3300 on the upgrade. He said (jokingly I hope), as long as he got his boat, he did not care if I screwed the guy who did the upgrade. He did not know how close to the truth he was. The owner of the XYZ company was my former husband who did the upgrade for me because he said he did not charge friends for help and he considered me his friend. I think I am covered for not telling him any more details, don’t you? I will tell him if he asked. My husband is happy, I am happy so did I do something wrong?

2. Open Question: What is a simple home-based business I can start?
I would like to start a small business from my home that I can use as a side job, I'm not looking to replace my career just yet.

3. Open Question: Are there any web-based inventory management systems out there?
I am starting a small business out of my home (mostly sales from catalog and slowly getting online) and I need to know if there are any web-based inventory management systems that don't require downloading since I will be doing most of my updating and whatnot on my down time at work and cannot download anything. I don't mind of there is a charge, although free or cheap is always best! :)

4. Open Question: How do you go about filing self-employed business taxes on a joint tax return?
I am a newcomer to the USA and have not previously filled out a tax return. My wife (a US citizen) filed for us jointly last year as I had just arrived and was as yet not authorized to work while awaiting Green Card approval. In the last year, I have received the Green Card and authorization to work and have been studying online to set up my own business providing various web-design services and so on and will be soon looking for my first clients. My business is a "sole proprietorship" with just myself on the books, I have registered my "fictitious" business name with the county clerk and will be getting my EIN tax number and a business bank account in the next few days. What I'm hoping the good people of the Yahoosphere can help with is as follows: 1. My wife has received her W2s from her employer and was planning to file her tax return for the year up to April 2012 in the next few weeks. I *think* that we can continue to file jointly but there will have to be an additional form (schedule C?) in addition to this? The thing is, while my business will have been a going concern for the weeks in February (and possibly March but she usually has it sent in well before the end of Feb) there probably will be next to nothing to actually "report" initially given that I may not have found my first customers yet and my outgoings will be next to nothing as I am using all my already existing computer equipment and working from home. How should this be reported and will I need to pay anything estimated for the the tax return she is about to file (period up to April)? I can confidently estimate that I'll probably earn very little indeed in that time! 2. I understand I need to report and pay my self employed taxes quarterly... how does this work with the other three payment periods (July, October, January?) - do I need to file an additional form to the yearly April tax return on these three occasions? 3. The info I've read states that each quarterly tax payment has to be "estimated" based on income I expect to make. As a new startup with no firm way of knowing how successful I'll be or how long it will take to really get going, what is the safest way to try and keep my estimates accurate and what do I do if they turn out to be way off? MANY thanks for your help! Getting the actual business ideas together is proving to have been easier than working out the tax but I want to make sure I do it right!

5. Open Question: Paying for home cleaning service upfront?
Would anyone pay upfront for a twice-per-month home cleaning service if you could save an average of $25 per visit? The business would provide all cleaning products/tools and two maids for each visit. Each visit would be no less than three hours. The client would sign a 12 month contract and pay $750 upfront. The client or the business could cancel the contract at any time and the client would get his/her money back minus service rendered. The business is registered with the state and has a physical address and website. What they are trying to do is establish a somewhat permanent client base. Also, the business is insured/bonded.

6. Open Question: How Can I Make A Video-Game, Like Gta San Andreas (The graphics like) but mines like real-life.?
GTA San Andreas, is just a reference, the characters are kind of realistic, like GTA IV. I want to investment my money on making a video game, i will plan it out, its based on my life. But the thing is this is a unique video game to gamers, is this the right target audience that want to play real life? This game is perspective, with different and a unique feature. You live in Perth Australia. Your name is (Haven't decided yet) In the game, you can take public transport, like perth transport, your parents take you out to dinner every fridays, to around the city, you can also buy cars, but however your first for the 180sx, the dealer asks for 10,000 and draws a line in his heart he still loves it. I'm making this graphical real-life video game, that focuses on teenagers, you play as a character who is a 5 foot 11 Asian, who is trying to get his license for his manual car. In the game there are Christians, people, city, shops, you are involved in school life, you are accused for getting involved with drugs as your teacher instructed you to hand in the class form. But someone approaches you, in this sense, you ask out of curiosity and you are escorted to the principles office for questioning, you get suspended, you leave the school and mum takes you to the police station for questioning. After that, your a high school drop out, and look for a job working at coles or Woolworth (Retail store). You have a little step brother who introduces you to cobra karate. Your looking for a better life. However, you were working on this project called "Scholar Of Parody" a brunch of studies, on movies that is used in your film, you work on this project called, " Chair King" maybe involves you in this life, about popular people vs people. (i'm not sure if im gonna add it) (Optional) (Not conclude) But to conclude, in this game your life revolved around school, people, work, cars and the most important your parents. (Karate, Foot-ball, investments, watching the news) Special feature in the game, the 180sx you drive to high school to meet the girl of your dreams, cruising around just desperate and sad, the turbo-charged car, has the loud bass music, that you have to turn up, to get everyone to surround your car, the teachers come out, but you ignore them. You can take your girl friend out for a ride in your joy and pride, you control the features on a ps3 controller or on PC, it has the real life feature that you can hear and visually see. You can play what music is on your CD player (The characters CD player), do things in your room, play with your ipod, play a driving game, Another thing unique in the game is that, when you start to speed over the limit, and police suspects you, this isn't like gta, but you can over run the police, once your caught but however you are warned to pull over first, and pay a fine, with a traffic offense you could get your car impounded. You can attended class at high school, when you drop out. You can sleep any time in the day, save your game at home. But the story line of this game is you trying to become successful, you go to a tafe institute and enroll, and attend. You work your way as a business man, conclude, you understand how things work, everyone respects you, the game ends when you get married.

8. Open Question: Is there any legitimate home based businesses?

9. Open Question: How can my school avoid bankruptcy?
We have had the perfect storm of financial problems and enrollment decline and BOE member dysfunction for the past 8 years. Our Holland Central School District is now looking to stay afloat by slashing teachers and programs. We have always had a fine educational standing in the Erie County School system but with the "accessories" our district has not had (Football) and other "Accessories" being cut left and right our district has seen enrollment decreases above and beyond the nys averages. our children are going more to home schooling and private schools because of it. Our BOE like most are majority ruled/elected and are not educationally prioritized. rather they are financially prioritized and that has resulted in the slow deterioration of our schools quality of education. Add that unique circumstance to ny's common lack of tax base and state residency reductions through disappearing jobs and migrating college graduates to other job rich areas and we have a dying school system with its leadership holding a bankruptcy sale soon. MY SUGGESTION... apart from the obvious one i've made for years *if you treat our school like a business do so responsibly and invest.. current business' that don't invest to grow usually die off* But more directly to you mr president.. eliminate the unfair inequitable practice of letting voters vote on school budgets. every school and every student no matter where they are (a rich neighborhood or poor) should get the same funding !! letting voters only vote on ONE GOVERNMENTAL BUDGET IS DISINGENUOUS AND HYPOCRITICAL ! of course overtaxed over frustrated voters are going to take their frustration out the only venue you afford them and where does that leave the minority educational community.. and more importantly our children .. hung out to dry for a temporary savings of a buck or two in comparison to the much much larger governmental budgets we cannot vote on.. shame on that practice. Please fund all schools everywhere equally. Please offer every child everywhere the same offerings of sports, arts, music, etc no matter their location. Not to do so is killing off our nation slowly. 10. Resolved Question: What would you do if someone sent you a threatening email?
From: MANDELBROT FRACTALS Subject: Re: Excuse me ***** Message: i own two successful businesses. What I report is what CLEARLY breaks the Community Guidlines - Racist rants, insults, harassment (libelous content such as calling another member a homo - an offense if one were of a mind to, COULD be brought out as a LAWSUIT! Mind, you, it's been done before. All one needs do is request the RECORD of the libel from Yahoo Inc. , they turn it over by subpoena, the complainant gets a lawyer near the defendant, who pleads guilty based on the evidence, the lawyer takes his 30% and the poor dumb punk ends up causing his parents to lose their home). Mind you WELL this bit of info. I am as close to BEING Yahoo Answers STAFF as one can BE without getting a paycheck from Yahoo Inc. Today, I called out for the suspension of 6 "Shaniqua Anderson" accounts for I tired of having to report them myself. Google "Shaniqua Anderson Yahoo Answers" Where you get the idea that Y!A is a personal playground and chat room may be the result of your juvenile mind. Just let me know if you want to play hardball. Via my connections, I can have ALL your accounts dropped at once, and when you start NEW ones, I'll be alerted within minutes. You want your mommy and daddy bankrupted by getting yourself sued, well, that would just prove your maturity level, eh? From: MANDELBROT FRACTALS Subject: Re: Excuse me ***** Message: think on this too. I'm not "hating on" Blacks, Asians, of Whites. I'm hating on people who hate one others, who mock and scorn one another based on nothing but sick, evil minds. The trolls I wipe out - the Allies, the Britneys, Igors, Shaniquas, Friedchickenisha, all vomit spewing, race baiting, hate mongering pieces of human trash. You feel that sort deserves a place on Y!A, let alone a format where they can PUBLICLY expose decent humans to such filth - things they's NEVER have the guts to speak on the streets, in ANY decent human society!? Do ya? Whatever your race or ethnicity, how do YOU feel as the target of such hate? Me - I clean up that bullsh!t for YOU! For all humanity! The user that sent me this is actually I DJ Weddings. This is just one of his many accounts. One day I just asked him why was he reporting everything I did and he sent me two messages when I only sent him one with 2 sentences. 12. Resolved Question: How do I clean extremely dirty walls and prevent dust build up?
I have been in the process of cleaning up my office as I have started a home based business. The biggest problems I have faced have mainly been with getting the door level, which is done, and now am trying to clean the walls. These walls are very dirty, as they were painted white, and you can definitely see the dust and dirt that has acquired. I have been scrubbing like crazy with things like simple green, mean green, Goo Gone, vinegar and water, tried a paste made of dawn dish soap and borax, and also have tried using baking soda since it is a mild abrasive. I use 2 separate buckets, one for cleaning and the other for my cloth to wipe down afterwards and have even used mild scotch brite pads on these walls. No matter what I seem to do, the next day it seems to be dirty again. One problem I have is that the crawlspace to the attic where the furnace is is in this room, but I applied weatherstripping and refastened everything there to seal it and also have sealed the window with plastic. The paint is not in bad shape except for where I spackled the screw holes from the previous tenants and so I am wondering if there are any other tips on keeping it clean. I have also used alcohol and water, but have considered trying a mixture of denatured alcohol and water, but do not know what it would do to the paint as I use it on electronics all the time. I also live in Kansas where it can get very dusty but I need to keep this clean as my clients will be coming at the end of the month for me to do their taxes and also bookkeeping. I have hired a housekeeper, but that is only 2 hours a week. Any cleaning tips would be great, on getting this cleaned. I am also concerned that maybe the ducts in the house may need cleaned even though I change filters every 1-2 months plus run a carbon air filter in the office and a humidifier when I am in here. I do use a vacuum, I own a shop vac handi vac and a kirby sentria with all the attachments., this stuff has been taking elbow grease like crazy. Tried the other cleaner too. Most of my cleaners I have to buy the concentrated versions for this reason.

14. Resolved Question: Who should I vote for (based on my beliefs)?
Abortion: Life starts at conception, period. Economy: Don't blame wall street, or the banks, blame yourself. Plus, let's cut national spending. Energy: We should look for other forms of energy, but also drill on our own land int he meantime. Family: They are the backbone of America and I believe in traditional families (man, woman, children). War: Is sometimes a necessary evil. I am happy we pulled the troops home, but America needs protecting from all threats. Gun Control: This seems like a state issue to me, but people keep bringing it up. I think the states should sort this one out, though making guns illegal will only keep them out of the hands of law abiding citizens. Health care: Repeal Obama-Care. Plain and simple. Immigration: We already have a path to citizenship, it's called legal immigration. Job Market: The government doesn't create jobs, businesses do. Taxes: The federal government taxes too much, too often. Welfare and Poverty: The Welfare limit needs to be cut to five years, unless a person can't work do to health issues. I don't think it's fair that I pay for someone else's livelihood while I work hard for my money. I consider myself a social conservative, but find that all of the Republican candidates (as of right now) are almost too extreme. I was pulling for Herman Cain, but he's dropped out and now I am at a loss of who to vote for.

15. Resolved Question: Write a system of equations to describe the situation below, solve using any method.?
Leila has a home-based business making and selling scented soaps. She intially spent $76 to purchase soap-making equipment, and the materials for each kilogram of soap cost $18. Leila sells the soap for $20 per kilogram. Eventually, she will sell enough soap to cover the cost of the equipment. What will be Leila's total sales and costs be? How much soap will that be?

16. Voting Question: Home business - do I have to register?
I own a small, home based business where I purchase product on-line, then sell for a profit. Do I have to register my business in order to submit my expenses? Is there a certain amount I can make (in Ontario) without having to register my business?

17. Voting Question: Do you KNOW of a good home-based business?
It should cost as little as possible to get into...return a reasonable amount (by "reasonable," I mean not promising, for instance, that you'll receive thousands of dollars a month for your investment of only $5 or so)...and start paying as soon as possible. What about Volusion and BigCommerce and Google and other such home-based Internet businesses? Please only report your own personal experiences, or those you have observed. No speculation, no attempts to recruit...PLEASE. I don't mind if what you suggest is an MLM opportunity, as long as you know it has a track record of offering ordinary people the opportunity for gainful self-employment from home. I guess I should've been a little clearer. It's not that I don't have skills; I do --- and an excellent formal education (although maybe that doesn't come through in my postings!). My problem is that I'm OLD; most everyone believes that I'm in my mid-50s, but I'm actually 70. To be honest, though, mid-50s is old. And, in today's economy, if I were a business owner or HR director, and I had two equally-qualified applicants to consider for a single opening, and one of them was older and experienced but single, while the other was younger and had a family to support, to whom would the job go? LINDA: I had a devil of a time accessing your referenced website, but I finally got it. If it seems to be what I'm looking for, you'll hear from me. I have to tell you that your being 63 is encouraging!

18. Voting Question: When it comes to cosmetics and cleansers, would you prefer the popular name brands or natural organic product?
Please consider this carefully. I am considering starting a small home based business of handcrafted soap and other possible cosmetics. I am trying to find out what the biggest need and requests are for this type of thing. If you feel comfortable, please include the state in which you live. Thank you.

19. Resolved Question: Why didn't our government teachers tell us that FDR dreamed of a socialist America?
Did your government teachers educate you about Franklin D. Roosevelt’s political goals? Mine didn’t either (and I’m 70 years old). They told me how FDR hired millions of federal workers during the Great Depression and about winning WW2. They also told me about the gruesome slaughter of Indians and how the rich elite Founders owned slaves; about American imperialism and America being the only nation to drop nukes. They told me how the USSR was trying to create a better society for all people; about how rich Mellon, Carnegie and Ford were -- and how poor the people of Appalachia were. But they never told me about FDR’s political goals, even though Lesson Number One should have been his own words: 1/11/44 FDR’s address to Congress: “We have accepted, so to speak, a second Bill of Rights under which a new basis of security and prosperity can be established for all—regardless of station, race, or creed. Among these are”: The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation; The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation; The right of every family to a decent home; The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health; The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment; You didn’t know that FDR was a socialist? Neither did I! I learned about that on the Internet a few years ago. Perhaps our government teachers were too busy assiduously teaching us about America’s crimes against humanity? Or maybe government teachers are willfully “dumbing us down” so we’ll be more compliant under the autocratic rule of socialist elites like Obama, Pelosi and Reid? The 43% of us who pay no federal income tax and get welfare benefits are most probably in that “dumbed down” group: -4/15/09 CBS News: “An astonishing 43.4 percent of Americans now pay zero or negative federal income taxes. The number of single or jointly-filing "taxpayers" - the word must be applied sparingly - who pay no taxes or receive government handouts has reached 65.6 million, out of a total of 151 million.” And we are, in fact, are being “dumbed down”: -12/7/07 Washington Post: “The scores from the 2006 Program for International Student Assessment showed that U.S. 15-year-olds trailed their peers from many industrialized countries. The average science score of U.S. students lagged behind those in 16 of 30 countries in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, a Paris-based group that represents the world's richest countries. The U.S. students were further behind in math, trailing counterparts in 23 countries.”- -3/9/11 AP: An estimated 82 percent of U.S. schools could be labeled as "failing" under the nation's No Child Left Behind Act this year, Education Secretary Arne Duncan said Wednesday. "We should get out of the business of labeling schools as failures and create a new law that is fair and flexible, and focused on the schools and students most at risk," Duncan said. [Translation: lower standards…again: the guiding light of our “education” system] Government teachers know very well that they are failing our children, which is why they save their own children: -12/15/10 Chicago Tribune: “As recently as 2004, a Thomas B. Fordham Institute study found that 39 percent of CPS teachers sent their own kids to private schools. They also know that the Democrat Party receives 95% of their union’s (National Education Association) political contributions which promotes FDR’s socialist agenda. They know that the text books they use are riddled with ridicule and lies about capitalism and Judao-Christian culture while they are full of sensitive praise and respect for all other cultures, in the name of Multiculturalism, the god all socialists worship before. They defend themselves with, “I love America and I teach my kids to love America!” sounding like the smiley Muslim who says, “I’m don’t support Muslim extremists,” and then go about their merry way with the full knowledge that their leaders trash our culture and pave the way for the America’s destruction. We owe gratitude to Obama for two things: killing Bin Laden and illustrating what destruction a socialist can impose on a nation of a once more prosperous people. But government teachers deserve our contempt. They’ve been dedicated, for decades, to keeping from us the knowledge of FDR’s agenda -- the Democrats agenda -- for a socialist America. That agenda necessarily requires the removal of one giant obstacle -- the Constitution. In my mind that’s almost treasonous -- but then, I’m an old guy with a sense of patriotism, a concept virtually unknown to Democrats, socialists -- and most teachers.

22. Resolved Question: What kind of jobs are there for a descriptive writer?
I know that one option is called 'Technical Writing', as in writing product descriptions, and I'm looking for something similar but I don't wish to be exclusive to that. Currently I'm a staff member on a text based Role Playing site with the task of writing up Race descriptions for Character Creation, as well as re-writing the old City descriptions (example 1 below). I also write descriptions for hand-crafted Lecterns for my father (example 2, below) which he posts on his business site. I would like to know if there are any job options for this kind of thing that I could do while working from home, and if I would need to go to college for anything before finding said jobs. Ex 1: The Elemental Plains: (original description) You are standing in the heart of The Elemental Plains. Any way you look you see stone buildings that look like new even though some are centuries old. It is as if time has stopped here, preventing the stones from aging. You can see several small rivers with crystal-clear water that flow through the city. Dozens of small fountains can be seen at various locations through the city. A warm wind is blowing softly through the city streets and small balls of flame float around in the air illuminating the city day and night. It is a truly magnificent sight like nothing else you have ever seen. (re-written description): Lit by the soft orange glow of were-light, the Elemental Plains is a peaceful place, almost ageless in its simplistic beauty. The heart of the city is breathtaking, with a massive square, unpaved and free of the influence of man's tools. Simple stone benches dot the area, and a magnificent stone fountain rests in the center, the soothing trickle of water an ever-present lullaby to those who listen. Carved stone buildings rise from the lush grasses beyond the square's edge, though only the southern path is bare of man's creation, left untouched for a view of the Forest, and the great lake beside it, which was filled by the crystal clear rivers that flow through the cities' center, undeterred by the change of landscape for over 100 years. The air is clear and warm, and the night is lit by the glow of were-light, providing a safe comfort to those in need. Ex 2: The Journeyman Tabletop Lecturn: With a hollow center column, and a sturdy frame, The Journeyman is perfect for displaying your Book of Shadows, or any other favored volume. Made of solid Maple- a masculine wood accociated with Love, Longevity, and Money- its square design is simple and pleasing to the eye. This piece is one of three standard Tabletop designs from New Renaissance Woodcraft, and optional leather and accents are available.

23. Resolved Question: Working on a theoretical construct?
Legality of an equal money system -- Solution for capitialism The current system doesn't work, its broken, so I created my own. Law one: 1. Division A) A standard equal income for all employees. The standard equal income should be 36,000 dollars or 3,000 dollars a month for all single adults. Every one should be alloted 3,000 dollars a month who has a job. Couples would earn twice as much and be able to raise many children easily with this money. Division B) If you were to have more than a certain number of children, adopted or breed, you would be given more money. Over 3 children the income would be raised by 500 dollars a month. Division C) Those that don't have a job would receive 75% of this income standard, 2250 dollars monthly. Law two: 2. Division A) The elimination of the personal usage of profit from market profit. All profit is to be used to create supply, not to be saved or accrued by the market owners. The market owners would not benefit from profit made by sales. Thus eliminating the possibility of elitism. All market owners would earn the standard equal income. Law three: 3. Division A) Prices would still be assigned with profit attached to them, that way the cooperations could buy the necessary materials and infrastructure to keep up with demand. Law 4 4. Division A) All homes would be under "continuous rent law," where no homes could be owned or sold, only built and rented. The money spent on housing would go directly back into the fed. The money spent on housing would become null. Division B) All homes would have rent equal or less than 1,000 dollars. Division C) 1 bedrooms 500 dollars, 2 bedrooms 750 dollars, 3> 1000,000 dollars. The flaw of capitalism is unequal distribution of wealth The flaw of capitalism is that cooperations make mass amounts of money from profiting from the sales of their goods. This is the reason for elitism. When there is an elite there is unfair distribution of wealth in the economy, so some people will have less than others, and some will have nothing at all. The goal of an equal monetary system is to divide people into two classes those that work and those that don't work. There would be a law of 25% difference in income between the employed and the unemployed. 3,000 dollars covers the cost of average rent at 1,000 dollars, food at 500, car at 300, and material expenses at 200 dollars, and miscellaneous and savings at 1000 dollars a month. The only elitism that would be created is by the saving of money by individuals. This elitism would be discouraged by advocating the use of all monthly income during that select period of time. There would be no banks. There would be a single source of money, coming from the federal government. It would be electronically operated. Those that had a job would receive checks from this federal monetary banking system, and those that didn't have jobs would receive checks from this monetary system. All banks would be operated by the federal government. All loans taken out in order to start a business, or do something contributive to the economy would be made through a personal business money request, and there would be a group of people that would decide whether or not the loans would be given out based on their knowledge of the economy. The economy would still be considered a laissez faire, but exploitation of the poor by the acquirement of super plus value would not exist. Actually there would be banks. Go with that.

24. Resolved Question: I'm voting for Ron Paul in the Florida 2012 Caucus and God willing the presidency. But I have a question?
I absolutely believe that we ALL as human beings come to behave in unique ways based on the unique experiences that have shaped our lives. So obviously the mindset of a staunch Liberal is a different reality than the staunch Conservative, which they themselves also see the world in a different reality. Knowing this I have found to be CRUCIAL in turning one's favor from an opposite side to your side. I also know this can be used both ways. But this is not what I'm here to talk about. I choose to vote for Ron Paul in great confidence because I have spent a modest amount of time evaluating the current candidates, as well as our current President, and based on what I see. I find no other person worthy of my vote than RP. I have come come to find RP to be a genuine individual who despite political correctness will go against the grain if it's the right and smart thing to do. RP seems like someone who has not sold out, and has this eff you mentality and general disgust for greed in business and the political system. A great plus for me is that he is a medical doctor yet not the typical indoctrinated physician who only follows the FDA and common orthodox like most doctors. He is the kind that will look at any solution and not be blinded like most MDs. For that I know he will have concern over the wellness of America, and will not stand for the current influence big Pharma/FDA has on limiting treatment and pushing drugs that may at times not even help the patient. He also wants to bring us back more or less to the Isolationist mentality of pre-WWII where the United States was the World's most impressive industrial nation and had little interest in spending any lives or money in wars. I'm not an anti-war hippy, but I and I know other Americans could care less about fighting on soil so far away from us that it is negligible. Airport and border security is what keeps the nation safe, not preemptively policing global territories and facilitating nation building in Iraq. I'm sorry, but screw these guys. We have our own troubles at home! We can't even prove that maintaining a global military presence or preemptive attack works. We have tried this already! It rarely ever does work! Being the global police actually breeds anti-western sentiment and terrorism. And honestly, who is worried about an Iraqi or Afghan invasion?? We should get out of the War and Global police business as it does little for the American citizen, and more importantly isn't sustainable anymore! As for terrorism, we can still work on having the most modern airport security and border defense at a fraction of the cost of Defense. As for the economy, I believe every able bodied adult should have to rely on themselves to succeed or fail in this world. No free handouts, yet how can they if our nation is in severe debt from war, and our banks won't lend, and businesses hiring has become more limited than access to a pastor's virgin daughter! I'm not an expert on world politics, more of a medical sciences guy myself. However I am a realist, and I just like the way this guy thinks and he's got a solid record. But why why why why Liberal or not would someone EVER vote for Obama knowing his very weak background as a Junior Senator and demonstration organizer in ACORN (a corrupted organization). Or all the other disturbing sentiment he has followed by individuals like his pastor and others on the very far left? In 04, I thought he'd never get elected because Americans would surely see this and be disturbed. And now looking at all the other Republican candidates, I'm not too confident in these guys. Romney looks like some business as usual poster boy for the Republican party, and the others just look like the usual "POLITICIAN".... sigh. And then Ron Paul. He just looks like the kind of realist I'd hope could run, and I know he defends his position well on even some of his more controversial topics. What do you guys think? Am I mislead, or is America mislead. I feel like this IS the right man and I have great certainty in this. Yet, I wonder too..... I'm not always right, maybe I'm missing a piece of the picture? I'm pretty surprised to have seen so many answers so quickly! Yes I know I typed in probably too much information for someone to bother reading on Yahoo and casually surfing the web. I always do this! I type my thoughts quickly like I'm conversation. However I am a little frustrated to see people assume I'm a White Baptist racists or White supremacist.... I'm for the record Catholic, I speak English, French, Spanish, and learning also Italian. May not mean much but I have a lot of love for my Cuban friends which I regard many of them family, my truest friend in life is Indian, and have no hatred of any race. I do however happen to have some preconception of certain cultures born out of U.S. pop culture (you know what I mean), and I don't respect much outright ignorance and idiocy. I mean cumon now! How did race get into this whole thing? Only valid criticism I could see here is that yeah it does look like I pose a quesition as preaching, but in my heart I know this is not true because I really want to have an alternate opinion from someone who doesn't like RP. I want to know why they believe the way they do, because in their heart what they themselves believe is righteous. So I guess I'll use this question I wrote as a lesson to keep things short in the future. And @Ou812 lordMando - Conio man!, what is this anger coming from?! I guess I wrote this thing forgetting that people connect certain words with being a certain thing but ease up with the Baptists. They argue with me all the time and get really on their pedestal at times, but they aren't such bad guys. Don't give all these white folk any reason to hate on hispanics. Try and preach tolerance while still opening people's eyes to discrimination, you follow? Or just show them a photo of some fine Cubanas or Colombianas to the men and they will show love right away!! :) And Mary W - That is an unbelievable story, I was instantly reminded of Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino.

25. Voting Question: How much should I be saving from each check for taxes?
As of the beginning of this year I am now a 1099 employee. How much should I save from each check? I read a base of 30% was recommended but I am only expecting to make $740 a month, and saving $220 a month seems a bit steep. (I am Single with no children) Should I place this into a savings account, or do I have to pay it quarterly? I live in WA state so state income tax shouldn't be an issue, just federal. I purchased Quicken 2012 Home & Business so I can keep track of any deductions though the year.

26. Resolved Question: Would you like to hear a story?
This is the story of two presidential candidates and the very different lives that have led them to where they are today. Here we have a young Mitt Romney, born into a wealthy and privileged family. Young Mitt spent his youth in country clubs, on the golf course, wearing expensive suits, and being groomed to follow in his father’s footsteps of wealth and political power. Next we have a young Ron Paul, who grew up working in his father’s small dairy business, delivering newspapers, mowing lawns, working at a local drug store, working as a painter and a furniture mover. He saved up money from an early age and used it to begin his college education. During the Vietnam war, a young Mitt Romney spent his time protesting against the anti-war protesters. Luckily he had plenty of time to tell others that they should go to war, since he was exempt thanks to his position as a Mormon “missionary”. When he wasn’t scolding others for not wanting to be sent to war, he spent his free time riding his bike around France. He found, at the time, that it really helped him take his mind off of the thousands of his peers who were dying in a jungle in Southeast Asia. During this same time period, Ron Paul was serving as a flight surgeon with the United States Air Force. It wasn’t easy for him, since he had a wife and two small children at home, but when he was called to serve, he did. Mitt spent his time in the private sector working for consulting and investment companies, many times buying out companies, firing all their workers and selling off the assets. Oh sure, some people lost their jobs, but Mitt sure did make a lot of money. He was really good at making money, in fact, I guess you could say that he liked doing that more than just about anything. He was so good at making money, that he’s worth over $250 million now, so you know he can really relate to the rest of us, well the rest of us that are worth a quarter billion dollars anyway. Mitt Romney’s co-workers really liked him a lot, because he always put making money above anything else and they all got really rich too. Ron Paul spent his time in the private sector as a doctor. An OB/GYN to be exact. He delivered over 4000 babies into the world! His co-workers and patients loved him too, not because he made them all rich, but because he routinely provided discounted and free care to those that couldn’t afford it. He even refused to accept Medicare or Medicaid as payment, choosing instead to work for free. Silly Ron Paul, he could have made a whole lot more money if he didn’t have those silly principles of his. Alright boys and girls, I think that’s enough story time for today. Maybe next time, I’ll tell you the story of their political careers and how they clashed head to head in an epic battle. That story is known as, ‘The Champion of Liberty vs. The Flip-Flopping Monster From Massachusetts’. ‘Til next time. A Tale Of Two Candidates: Mitt Romney and Ron Paul http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gm9QVk3_1Yo&feature=channel_video_title Based on their backgrounds, which candidate do you think will look out for you?

27. Resolved Question: How can I get more property instructions?
Hello everyone. I am moving to Spain shortly. I am looking to start up a property care taking business - not an estate agent or letting agent. I am based on the Costa Blanca and there are literally thousands of properties which are owned but are mostly vacant throughout the year. For a small fee of 30 euros per month I am offering to look after some of these homes, visit them weekly, make sure they are secure, give them an airing etc. If required I will offer handyman services, decorating, gardening, cleaning etc (for an extra charge) My problem is that these properties are empty - which means I cant contact the owners directly. I feel sure for the small fee which is paid monthly some of these owners woud be interested in my service. I have dropped over 5000 leaflets into letterboxes but only had a handful of replies. I thought about local advertising but if clients are not at their properties they are unlikely to read any advert I put in. There are a few websites where owners offer their properties for rent - I can email them via these websites but you are not supposed to contact the owners for commercial purposes. Some have telephone numbers also, but again I dont think you can contact for commercial purposes. I dont think contacting agents would be very fruitful, and I cant think what the best way to approach them would be either - its not as if I can offer them a percentage of the fee. So looking for answers from the community Kind regards

28. Resolved Question: what do you think of this story?
Comedy It is here that we are meant to stay. Earth is the very gift that we are given and yet we take it for granted. No longer are we caring of things of the past. Day in and day out, we stress about meaningless things, we should focus on the big picture: we are being watched. Yes, watched by creatures we did not know existed and still we focus on mundane tasks, oblivious to the coming storm. All of a sudden you are snatched and put in a cage, lasers penetrate the very foundation of your building, and the invaders are out for blood, or are they? This question has been pondered for eons, generations. Ever since the civil wars that plagued mankind, one question has stayed rooted in our minds: are there aliens out there? Friendly, or are they genocidal? The aliens are little more than cold hearted monsters. Lidless eyes, they feed on blood, flesh and organs. They are non-feeling, angry as if an unseen malice is driving them forward. Humanity is powerless as its weapons are futile against the invader. The weapons bombarding the aliens are absorbed into the bloodstream and subsequently used against the armies, corrosive acid is unleashed on the vehicles and all are taken for “feeding”. Who are they and why are they here? What is there purpose? Do they have a goal, an agenda of some sort? Or is it just genocidal hate fueling their drive forward? Allow me to explain. Mars is a lifeless planet and to us it is inhospitable. To the aliens it is home. It is a home that is dying. They go to earth and panic ensues. The embassy is destroyed to make room for new ground that will serve as the starting of their new home. Yet the aliens are assaulted again and again and every weapon is absorbed by the body, no shield needed. A bacterium is administered and that too fails. The aliens are too strong! There coming closer, closer, run for your lives! In a flash of light, the empire state building is vanquished. The military bases lie in ruins. The rest of humanity is praying for a miracle. Contrary to movies, the aliens are simply looking for a home. Whether it’s bad driving skills or poor control, the damage is not their fault. It is the fault of their ancestors (Assuming it’s the tripods from war of the worlds) that put humanity on the alert. But I’m off topic the aliens want a simple place to hole up at a cost of a billion lives. I know it’s not fair but think of the aliens for once. They work hard all day and when there planet dies, we assault them, it’s hardly fair. 3 reasons: a) Ugliness b) Anger) c) The need for relaxation after the holiday rush. Okay, that last one was for comic relief. Actually, come to think of it, consider the working mother. She slaves and the aliens slave, she has children and the aliens mate. What’s the difference? She’s half crazy with hunger and tiredness and ready to rip apart anyone that comes between her and her Marie calendars pie. The aliens are busy prepping for the invasion of earth and she’s prepping for bed. All of a sudden the house is rocked and she sees aliens eating her true love. (Diarrhea follows and the aliens explodes from the inability to hold it in) She goes crazy and rips apart all the aliens, eats one and steams the other until it is golden crispy and then eats it. She then goes about her business before ripping into one alien machine and completely disabling another. Considering this woman should be committed to a psychiatric ward (of which there are none), she is quite capable of taking care of herself. Other women are taking up the call and bringing down the multicolored female fist on the alien invaders. One woman, angry about the aliens interrupting her episode of days of our lives, got a hatchet and a chainsaw and shoved the hatchet down the alien’s throat and impaled it at the same time, causing it to explode. Is it a crime to send them to prison? Apparently no. all six women were jailed after the charred, eaten remains of one unfortunate alien were found near a restaurant. Apparently a woman who found out that her waiter was dead went mad with hunger and attacked an alien that came in to order lamb. It did not survive. It’s screams can still be heard if you listen closely enough.

29. Resolved Question: Should I write to him now or wait until he comes back from his deployment?
The situation that I am in has caused me to feel confused, agitated, and a little depressed. So here's my story: I met this guy named (We will call him Rick for privacy purposes). Rick so happens to be in the military. I met him while he was on leave through my best friend Nancy. We were friends for about 4 months and made it official 1 month before he left on deployment. For starters I wanna say that he is an extremely busy person not only is he involved in the military but he has his own business going on. Anywho so we decided to stay together during his deployment. Things were going well and it seemed like we would make it until 2 months into his deployment. He started becoming distant, wasn't as attentive as he used to be, wouldn't express how he felt about me anymore, and then it hit me. Maybe he just doesn't like me anymore.. when he finally called me I asked him what was going on his response was that distance was kicking in and it didn't feel like we were going out anymore. He proposed that we Pick things up when he came home I clearly told him no for I have dated someone in the military before and he told me the exact same thing and wen he got back things were WAY different. So in determination to protect my heart I told Rick that I couldn't allow the same thing to happen with my ex all over again and that I didn't wanna pick things up wen he came back and that I refused to be a "for later thing" because I was actually the very first girl to wait for him during a deployment and i deserved A LOT more than him throwing my love, patience and understanding back in my face like that. He sounded sad and said he understood but he still wanted to see me wen he got back and I still said no. The catch is that we broke up two days after christmas which means I had already sent him his xmas gift along with a blanket of mine(yes he asked for a blanket of mine because he miissed me) and he had already sent me his gift. This break up has hurt me A lot. even though I come off as a very strong and independent woman inside I'm hurting REALLY bad. It wasn't until today that his sister dropped off the present he had sent me... when I opened the present tears started rolling down my face. This has made me miss him alot more. Idk if I should write him a letter thanking him for the gift or should I just wait for him to come back? plenty of my friends have said "it's now or never" or "write him! thanking him" but honestly I'm afraid idk what to do.. the things I lived with this guy were special he meant alot to me and I was starting to fall for him. If I were truly just a "booty call" I know he wouldn't have drove 8hours from his base to my home just to see me. Idk if I should just forget him and move on or if I should look for him. This is why I'm writting to you guys to see if you could help me figure this out. I know it may not seem like a lot to you but it means a lot to me. Thanks!

34. Voting Question: Starting a (legal) home-based marijuana edibles bakery?
I live in Toronto Canada and I'm thinking of starting a small home-based business selling gourmet pot-cookies and brownies and such for medicinal purposes. Is this possible? Are home bakeries allowed in Toronto? What licensing would I have to get? I've tried looking on the websites Health Canada and the Toronto Chamber of Commerce, but I can't find info or even info on who to contact about this. Any info at all would be great.

35. Resolved Question: Deranged, waste of space mother-in-law, what would you do about it?
As if I'm not dealing with enough, I have this annoying, waste of space of a mother-in-law who likes to send random insulting emails and get her little weirdo internet friends to harass me online. Where you'd expect maturity and class at a certain age, she is entirely lacking. She is constantly finding ways or reasons to stir up trouble. She's the type that hurls "f*** offs" at you when you try to include her in mailings of her grand children's pictures for the holidays. She is obsessed with all things me and certainly not for moral support. She spends a great deal of her pathetic life on the web, trolling and youtubing about politics --as if all her exchanges of unwanted opinions can really affect change-- all this while her children have to bail her out every month for her bills. I have basically decided that I don't want her around my children. Am I out of bounds? I just don't want that kind of disgusting energy around me or my children. She doesn't deserve my children's company. She's never shown any interest in them. Has always been highly pretentious and will talk anybody into the ground for hours no matter how busy you are just because she likes the sound of her own voice with all conspiracy theories. She can't take cues until you've fully just fallen asleep on her altogether. Not sure if she just doesn't care about them because they are biracial -- husband is white and I am black. I'm just guessing based on the level of her ignorance even during my pregnancies, she's too caught up in her conspiracy theory and all things anti-government world for them to even be safe w/ her. She has other grand children ---fully white--- who tend to warrant her attention however. Funny thing though is that most of her children's spouses have banned her from their homes. She's always starting something with somebody and she needs somebody to fight all the time. She even scans the internet looking up information on me so that she can post derogatory statements about me on business related sites-- which i've already told her son that she will then have to find a real occupation if anything overt impacts my work. I am so happy that my mom has never met her and I will never insult my mother with any type of actual introduction to her. She was drunk the first time she ever spoke to my mom on the phone--when she came to visit my home and decided to verbally attack me with vulgarities while I was pregnant -- about her son and I's marital issues. Till this day she acts as if she's been physically present to know what has happened between him and I. Whenever she comes up, I have to be bothered with thinking "What a loser". I regret ever becoming involved with such madness but I don't regret my children. They are each such beautiful spirits and God really blessed me in that regard-- every day is a happy moment with them. I just loathe this other association. I just wonder if others can understand and see why I would. I've made it to where she can never come to my home either. Her own daughter concurred and said in front of my husband that she understood why -- since he too would attack me about my position regarding his mother. Ever since she said that on a recent visit his whole gripe about his mother has been disarmed and all of a sudden he just wants to be a loving husband. We'll see what happens but I'm just focused on myself and my children at this point. Valuable lesson has been to look before you leap. You can not associate yourself with any old thing or any old body. We met in college many years ago but quickly got married when we reconnected years later. I went home with him back then and his siblings became like my own etc but didn't realize how warped and dysfunctional their situation was. I kick myself in the rear every time I think about it. The main thing now is to establish a path completely clear of all of it and rise above it.

36. Resolved Question: Is it a good time to buy or should I continue renting?
For the past few years I have been desperately yearning to own a home, even if that home is just a small condo. I recently learned of an 800 sq. ft. 1 bdrm + loft condo available in a complex next to mine. This condo is basically the same size of the apartment I live in now, and its 105K (short sale) which I consider to be a steal for the safety of the area we live in. I'm currently paying $995 to rent, plus my renter's insurance which is $45. My lease is up in a few weeks and I'm really not interested in renting anymore. I feel like its a great investment, however I'm not sure what are the other costs involved in buying a home? Also, I currently have about 45K saved up. If I were to put around 25K down on a condo in the 105K range, what would be the best type of loan for me? I bring in around 5K a month in income, however I own my own business and do freelance writing. Some months I do really well, and based on that fact plus a few other factors I believe I could realistically have 105K saved up within 18 months to 2 years. Should I wait it out and rent another year or so, or should I purchase now?

37. Resolved Question: Equine Science OR Horse business management, what would you choose.?
Just curious as to what you would do if you had the opportunity to complete either a 3 year Equine Science degree OR a 1 year Horse management diploma. The Equine Science degree is part of the Charles Sturt University based in a rural city called Wagga Wagga in NSW, AUS. 6 + hours drive away from home (sydney). It's not a specialised uni but it does have a equine section with pretty nice facilities. The Science degree covers all areas from breeding, training, locomotion, nutrition, performance, health, anatomy ect... however there is other core subjects which include chemistry and biology. Marcus Oldham College is a private college in Geelong about 10 hours drive from sydney. It is specialised in 3 areas, Agriculture, Horse business management and Farm management. The Horse bussiness management diploma is slightly harder to get into due to the small size of the college and the riding experience you must have. You also need a horse (either on lease or your own horse) during the first two terms. The diploma has three sections, Equine science, Horse Husbandry and Business management. Its cheaper then Wagga Wagga but id have to pay it up front instead of working it off. I would like to do ANYTHING in the horse industry, but most likely in the training or health areas... What would you do if you were in my shoes OR even just what you'd prefer to do regardless of the situation. Just curious :) Thanks for reading

38. Resolved Question: I'm having trouble with my Sims 2 games and Expansion packs? I need help from someone who knows about CC.?
Well I just downloaded the base game which is Double Deluxe, then I bought the Best of Business collection, and then the University life collection from EA games website and installed those. I just got a lot of custom content after that and put all those in the correct folder where it should be under Double Deluxe in my computer files. Then I went to get on my Sims game. The loading screen said Ikea home stuff (A stuff pack that came with University life Collection). Then I went go look at the neighborhoods and there were none. There are usually Pleasant View and the other towns that came with the game. I next went to see if my Custom Content was at least working in the Make a Sim and none of the stuff I downloaded was there. This is the second time I opened the game so I did enable Custom Content. Basically I'm asking how can I switch it back to Double Deluxe and still keep the expansion packs on it, and why is my Custom Content (Downloads) not working. Only a few showed up. Is it because it's not on Double Deluxe where I put them. Because that's where I have the Downloads folder. Thanks for the help.

40. Resolved Question: Golddigger loss of interest?
Read the FB conversation below and tell me if this is golddigger loss of interest: -Girl- I swear, I got hot just looking at you. Naw, I still draw all the time. I don't paint as frequently though. I gave up painting as a major because it was so time-consuming and I honestly prefer it as a hobby. I don't like it when art becomes a job. -Boy- OMG--I didn't read the paragraph immediately above yours, I looked at the first line of what you wrote and thought "Damn, she's forward!" lol Anyway, the thing about art and design is that it does take a great deal of your time and the return is often ambiguous. Working in it, you may have the kind of job where you're awake at odd hours of the night excitedly anticipating what you'll create next (when you're not worrying about paying the bills because you decided to do something fulfilling as opposed to "practical"). -Girl- LOL. Oh man, that's great. I love it when things get taken out of context. Idk, I kinda like practicality. I'm a numbers person and an art person, I don't mind either world. I never asked, what do you do? -Boy- I'm an armchair political commentator . . . I'm on hiatus from UC and I'm in sales right now, supplementing that with an occasional graphic design gig. For the next 5-6 years, I can pretty much count on not having sufficient employment in architecture. -Girl- Haha, oh yeah? I saw that you liked something about not taxing California citizens. Yeeeah, architecture is a bad gig right now. My parents are in the home-building business, I know the market's not so hot right now. But your current line of action doesn't sound like too bad of a gig. -Boy- Taxing groceries is unacceptable. That's one of the things I didn't like about Savannah, as Georgia allowed for it. As far as what I'm doing now, it's kind of a mixed bag--the pay could be better, but it is pay at a time when all too many people are unemployed. When I was commission-based out in San Diego, I could make $900 a week working part-time and going to school. It was great while it lasted. The guy I'm working with now tells me I can make six-figures if I stay on this track (not holding my breath), so I'll see what comes of it. He wants me to try out here and then go out to L.A. and tear up it for him. I wanted to ask you, do you speak Norwegian? I speak a little Danish and I've heard that Norwegians can understand it. *CONVERSATION CEASES* Is this an example of golddigger loss of interest?

41. Voting Question: How can I increase my customer base for my Home based Mobile Computer Business on a shoe string budget?
I am self employed providing a mobile computer repair service to home and business users in rural Ireland how can I gain free positive publicity and advertise for free? Is there any innovative way to tap into word of mouth advertising basically to get more people talking about me. I have all ready advertised on social media, print media, covered the area with flyer's and have my own website. I don't want to go down the road of vouchers or paying for google adverts. Any help would be greatly appreciated folks.

42. Resolved Question: Should I transfer colleges?
I am currently a freshman in college. My school is on the quarter system, which I really dislike. The quarter system has the pros of letting us change classes often, which is good early on when you're still trying to figure out what you want to study and when you're in a class that you hate, so it's over more quickly. However, it has some drawbacks, including a heavy emphasis on 2 or 3 tests making up your grades for a quarter. I've only been here for one quarter, but I've found it difficult to make connections with professors due to the short length of our time with any professor. It also seems to me that we have more work here, since professors try to squeeze as much as they can into any quarter, since quarters are about 5 weeks shorter than semesters (This notion I've gotten from talking to friends at comparable Semester-based schools). The result I've found is a culture of studying that focuses on cramming. In a semester, the students have more time to absorb all the information, while I feel that the quarter system is forcing me to cram a ton just so I can make decent grades. I've been thinking about transferring to a semester-based school, which I think would be a better fit for me, as it fits my studying style more, and I feel it would provide me with more opportunities to participate in clubs without feeling like my grades will suffer. And I would consider transferring to a school a bit closer to home (I live in the Northeast, while my current school is in the Midwest), which would make travel a lot easier and cheaper. Plus, I would consider trying to transfer into an undergraduate business school, since that's my intended major. I would also look for a school with more clubs and intramural sports that I am interested in, since I've had a tough time finding those things here (the sports I like don't have intramural teams, and a LOT of the clubs you have to apply into) However, the truth is that I don't hate my school. I don't love it, either. I like the people here, the I like the setting of the school, and my grades are good. The thought of going through the application, decision, and adjustment processes again scares me. And since my school is on the quarter system, transferring credits won't be easy, and I really want to graduate on time and study abroad. It's a tough decision to make, and I know it is my decision to make, but what do you all think?

43. Resolved Question: How can I set up an online translation business?
I am fluent in French and English, I have lived in both countries for half my life and am currently working in accountancy. I would like to set up a business for people or companies that would like documents translated or contact between English and French speaking companies from my home. So internet based. How would I go about doing this? This would be just be extra income.

44. Resolved Question: How to Accept Online (Email) Payments for Self-Run Service?
I self-run a home-based service to make some extra money on the side. My problem is in accepting payments from clients who want to pay online, but who don’t want to make an online bank transfer. I know there are many services available for this issue, but my problem is in choosing the right one. I know about PayPal, but have never created an account with them. I have recently attempted to, but it seemed to be signing me up for something other than what I wanted (their site is really quite confusing, and I know how to design websites). What I want: - An EMAIL payment method for clients. (I don’t want a button on my website, I just want to be able to send invoices via email) - NO monthly fee (I don't want to pay 'anything' when I'm not able to run my service due to time constraints) - FREE setup - LOW commission charges My concerns: - I want to ensure that whatever option I choose will NOT charge me any commission fees if no payment was made. Again, this is something I do on the side, and if I am not able to do any work in a month, I do NOT want to be charged by PayPal (or whoever). It is quite amazing how vague all the current options are online, and I’m just hoping someone can help me find the right method for me. Again, I just want a simple method for clients to send me payments without needing a ‘merchant account’ or anything that requires a bunch of paperwork. I do not run a business, merely a self-run service on the side, and it’s just not worth it to have to run the legal gauntlet to set up a method by which someone can send me a few pounds for a simple service. Thanks for the help.

45. Resolved Question: How to bring up the subject of going to visit my boyfriend to my DAD?
I'm a 20 year old university junior. I go to school in my hometown, and live with my parents. I'm the oldest of 4 children in a UBER conservative family. My own parents met in college, and would go camping together, etc. So I dont think it's that they're immune to people going places together. I've never done anything to have my parents NOT trust me. I'm the kid that's never had a curfew, because..ive never NEEDED a curfew--ive always been home, studying. I have no social life, and very few friends. I've had two jobs, one of which is at the family business, where i still work, i took 19 credits in the fall semester, and i've never received so much as a speeding ticket (and i bought my own truck at 16). I have a boyfriend (this is a recent development). We use to be really close friends, all last winter, and somehow they had no problem with me going to movies, bowling, hiking or skiing with him then. He is now in the military, and we've recently started a relationship (which he is estatic about because this was his whole plan during out friendship, too, apparently). He was home on christmas leave when we made things official. He was only home for TWO WEEKS, and I tried to be with him as much as possible. My family made it some huge scandal that I was out with him "three afternoons in a row." and "IT'S 11 O'CLOCK ON A FRIDAY? WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?! WHY ARENT' YOU HOME?!" When otherwise..i would have been sitting at home, doing nothing. He's currently in Illinois. I'm in arizona. His birthday is in 2 weeks, and he graduates A school and moves cross country (close to us) shortly thereafter. I want to go see him in Chicago before he leaves there. I never GO ANYWHERE, and I've hardly got to travel in my life. He has a liberty weekend that weekend, as well. For the last month, I've scouted out airfare. I found the cheapest is $272 round trip. I would leave on a Friday, and come back on sunday night. It's a 2hrs drive to the airport, and there's a shuttle I can take, so they dont have any reason to bitch about "how we had to drive you 2 hours you ungrateful bitch". Once in Chicago I will take the metros to the base. There is a Navy lodge close by that I would make reservations at for the two nights. Expensive trip? Incredibly. Priceless? That too. Any idea how to bring this up to my dad? He's a control freak to begin with, and I'm sure the idea of me going to visit my boyfriend only means to him that i will "lose my virtue" or get raped at the airport. Any ideas?? Like I said...IM TWENTY!

46. Resolved Question: Ramadan: In Islam how is inheritance shared amongst children? Please I am worried.?
And is it true that a daughter only receives half of what her brother receive? Upon hearing this I have been worried that I may receive less of my dads business inheritance based on my gender. Islamilcally how would, housing properties, business premises such as supermarkets, motels and shops be shared amongst us? And what about his personal wealth e.g money? And Honestly I am not interested in my dads inheritance at all for personal desires and wealth, I want to use to help with poverty and orphanage and also I really really want to build a mosque in my home country, and I can do that if I have equal shares of my fathers wealth. Thank you to any one that answers and contributes their knowledge, May Allah reward you.

47. Resolved Question: Isn't this bad business ?
I called an Internet service provider in my town to get Internet service in my home . They told me they only provide the Internet for businesses . Isn't that snobbish ? ( "Putting the Internet in your home isn't good enough for us !" ) What's more, isn't that bad business ? If you want the Internet in your home, your money is every bit as good as somebody who needs the Internet for his business . Wouldn't you make more money providing the Internet for everybody who wants it ? What if you need the Internet for a home -- based business ? Are they going to tell somebody "We can't connect you to the Internet !" because he has a home -- based business ? Are they going to connect him to the Internet, and then refuse to work with somebody who wants the Internet for fun ? If there was a law that said an Internet service provider had to provide the Internet for homes AND businesses, where would that "We only provide the Internet for businesses !" rule be ? Why shouldn't there be a law like that ? Why would anybody say "We only provide the Internet for businesses !" anyway ? Thank you in advance for your answers .

49. Resolved Question: 10 pts!! Is my personal statement good? (interesting I promise)?
I can't add the whole thing here based to limit but here is my first two paragraphs. Please help me concise it, edit, grammar. revise. etc . Thank you SOOO much 10 pts!! Observing my parent’s businesses throughout my life has sparked my interest in wanting to become a humanly resourceful person, who can improve the workplace both physically and psychologically. Being a keen observer of their daily stresses and discovering solutions for their businesses has made me learn a great deal about how people in the workplace function. One dimension of success lies within the worker’s quality of thinking. At a young age, my work ethic has shifted from an employee’s to a manager’s perspective. I have learned that a company will survive if employees have the mindset of prioritizing the organization’s goal while managers listen and offer feedback. There were employees in my parent’s first business who didn’t have integrity which caused my parent’s business to fail. Watching them suffer for a moment, made me think of how I could improve their situation. With some introspection, I quickly learned why I was internally motivated to succeed. I believe motivation comes from pain and pleasure. I was heartbroken from seeing my parents failed at their first business and has made me what to help them with all my will. My pleasure came from seeing them not giving up and having the will to become successful with the current business they have now. I believe people are motivated by different experiences and knew that each employee needed to find a reason to be motivated. Knowing this at an early age has made me become encouraged me to succeed in all aspects of my work, home duties, and even school. Now, I know to search for that intrinsic motivation in others, hoping to find that quality manifested in their personalities. My passion for the field of Industrial Organizational Psychology stems from my experience of seeing the grief that my parent’s endured when their business collasped, but they still managed to succeed in opening a new one. I have been inspired by them and want to help improve companies by finding the best fit of personnel because I strongly believe strategies of recruitment and retaining individuals, build a solid foundation for a company. To prepare for my future of becoming a Human Resource Manager, I am currently double majoring in Communication and Psychology as a basis for understanding the underlying meaning of what inspires people. To further my passion in human resources, I began volunteering at the Student Recruitment and Retention Center, which strives to recruit and retain students of colors into higher education. Each week, I find tutors from each department and activities for students to connect to make them feel part of a group. The best way I have found to retain students is to make them feel involved in a group activity, then they will know they have a duty and find an interest in staying in school and doing well. In the end, everyone is close and they are satisfied as their job as a student. I have also chosen an internship with the Graduate Academic Achievement Advocacy Program because I believe I would benefit from it most and drop-out rates are high. Together, my team administers surveys to find student’s needs and quickly develop strategies to that offer support concerning the application process of Graduate School. Many undergraduates, including myself sought a mentor for assistance for the process of applying to graduate school. This project was successful because our essential motive was to build a community of similar interest and network graduate students and undergrads because eventually, students in the same field will become colleagues. Also, another request was to have research classes, where students were to be able to conduct their own research. At U.C. Davis, I have worked with Professor Grimm as his research assistant and am familiar with using SAS and R. I am contributing my ideas of what I have learned in my empirical research class and my assistance with Professor Grimm to the research class. Ideas start at a micro-level, and turn into mini projects in a community that eventually aim to reach the holistic goal of improving education. I am already undertaking what I want to be on a micro-level in my community. My enthusiasm for helping others overcome barriers is what defines my personality and work ethics. When it comes to employment, I will find adequate people for a job and finding the right person and finding ways to retaining them to build them into more strong individuals. I hope to learn every feature of Industrial Organization to fulfill the organizational goals within a company. My last paragraph talks about how if this motivation is universal? because I am interested in cross cultural studies. if it is universal.. lets test it and appy what we learn in workplace to improve it.. etc
